Senior Vice President and energy policy leader John Lushetsky joined the Young Professionals in Energy DC (YPE DC) for an engaging discussion on what’s ahead for the Department of Energy in 2026.

Speaking to a group of roughly 80 attendees, John emphasized the importance of building expertise across all areas of the energy sector and staying adaptable as policy priorities shift. He noted that while policy directions can be cyclical, resilient industries — such as solar — continue to demonstrate strong long term momentum. He also underscored the growing influence of state level policy and offered insights on emerging technologies that may shape the future, including advanced battery storage and fusion.
